Drawing Redefined Exhibition Catalogue

Regular price $24.95

Drawing Redefined accompanies the exhibition of the same name which presents the distinctive drawing practices of five contemporary artists: Roni Horn, Esther Kläs, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Richard Tuttle, and Jorinde Voigt, who have maintained a discipline of drawing as a constituent element of their artistic process. Drawing affirms these artists’ tactile engagement of the world and often provides a forum for experimentation, study, and an expansion of a vocabulary of images that recur in their art. In these artists' hands, drawing is transformed into an exploration of time and space manifest in forms beyond traditional linear representation in photographic, painterly, and sculptural work. This publication includes an essay by the exhibition curator that explores drawing as a historically key component of sculptural practice, as well as focused essays on each artist and the role drawing plays in his or her work.

Featuring essays by Connie Butler, Chief Curator, Hammer Museum; Cathleen Chaffee, Curator, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY; Veronica Roberts, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Blanton Museum of Art, University of Texas; Lexi Lee Sullivan, independent curator; and Jennifer Gross, Chief Curator, deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum.

This exhibition is organized by Jennifer Gross, Chief Curator and Deputy Director of Curatorial Affairs, and supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.
